The South Australian Supreme Court jury has convicted a trucking company boss, Peter Francis Colbert, of manslaughter and endangering life, following the death of truck driver Robert Brimson, who died as a result of faulty brakes which had not been repaired.
It is a landmark court decision, as it is understood to be the first time that a company boss has been held criminally responsible for an employee’s death as a result of work place negligence.
